Is EMDR effective for trauma therapy? Does EMDR actually work? Based on so many amazing podcasts I’ve heard recently, EMDR is getting better and better. It’s not the same EMDR that existed 30 years ago. Not only is EMDR an evidence-based bottom-up trauma therapy, it is endorsed by the World Health Organization, the American Psychological Association, and a host of other organizations for its positive treatment outcomes for trauma, depression, anxiety, and more. I have listened to many of the current EMDR experts in the field including Rebecca Kase, Dr. Deborah Korn, and Rotem Brayer, and I’m linking their books and podcasts below to share with you. Many practitioners now incorporate IFS, attachment, and/or Polyvagal Theory into EMDR protocols which can make the experience so much more personal and individualized.
“I have seen no treatment method as powerful as EMDR in producing long term, sustainable, transformative change for people.”
Rebecca Kase, LCSW
